Digital transformation of HEIs education process in Ukraine and Moldova for sustainable engagement with enterprises

Project summary

The DIGITRANS project aims to increase graduates’ employability, support sustainable growth and jobs at Ukraine and Moldova, in line with the Green and Digital transition, through implementation of supporting measures such as:

  • Integration of research and training in such a way that students have the opportunity to conduct research at partner universities and enterprises

  • Introduction of innovative practical training schemes in conjunction with relevant industrial partners, e.g., internship, professional courses at enterprises, etc.

  • Development of innovative educational programs of electrical engineering, information and computer systems, cybersecurity, automatic control engineering, electrical and electronic equipment, engineering and management in road transport, and other fields aligned with the Green Deal and Fit for EU strategic aims

  • Digitalization of education with practical training of students in specific skills with increasing demand in the job market, e.g. specific software for diagnostics, repair and maintenance of a modern type of transport, etc.

  • Development and implementation of Double Diploma programs between EU and Ukrainian, Moldavian universities

  • Development of virtual and remote practice (labs), e.g. classes for modelling, simulation, building and debugging models, etc.

  • Developing Sharing Remote Experiment Environment as a digital distributed educational infrastructure supporting the Digital Learning Ecosystem

  • Providing an opportunity to academic staff and students fleeing from Ukraine or internally displaced as refugees to be involved in an education process through the Digital Learning Ecosystem of DIGITRANS

Aims and objectives

The specific Objectives of the project aim to address the regional and specific priorities and neds of Moldavian and Ukrainian partners and they are directed on the further reformation of Ukrainian and Moldavian HEIs according to the CBHE call priorities and ET2020 strategy of European Union

  1. Design

    Design of innovative curricula and introducing innovative elements in the existing curricula.

  2. Implement

    Implement innovative learning and teaching methods

  3. Engagement

    Enable active engagement with the business world and with research, the organisation of continuing educational programmes and activities with and within enterprises;

  4. Strengthen

    Strengthen the capacities of Moldavian and Ukrainian HEIs to network effectively in research, scientific and technological innovation;

  5. Support

    Support Institutional reforms of Moldavian and Ukrainian HEIs in terms of digital skills, modern university services, quality assurance processes, tools and methods for professionalisation and professional development of academic, technical and administrative staff;

  6. Develop

    Develop an entrepreneurial mind-set and improve competencies and skills within the Moldavian and Ukrainian HEIs institutions;

  7. Provide

    Provide an opportunity to academic staff and students and particular for those fleeing from Ukraine or internally displaced as refugees to be involved in an education process;

Main results

  1. Based on new developed Sharing Remote Experiment Environment, 2 remote shared labs on physical equipment of common interest for usage by teachers and students are developed

  2. Based on Sharing and Modelling Simulating Environment platform, 6 virtual shared labs of common interest for usage by teachers and students are developed

  3. Sharing Remote Experiment Environment (SREE) platform for remote laboratories

  4. Number Double Diploma programs developed in cooperation between EU, Moldavian and Ukrainian HEIs

  5. Number of students, who receive organisational and technological support for student’s internship and bachelor / master degree thesis preparation from industrial stakeholders
